Created by the passionate cheesemaker Maurice Lustenberger, this recipe was passed down through generations of the family. „Grand Maurice – Réserve du Patron“ is produced with the established family tradition: using untreated raw milk and made fresh on site in the local village dairy. The cheese is handmade and the loaves are matured over eight months into a unique, fruity and tangy cheese. We were hired to design a visual appearance that embraces this tradition without looking old-fashioned.
Inspired by heraldic symbols such as the Lustenberger family crest depicting a deer, we developed a distinctive visual language reflecting high-quality craftsmanship. The deer became our key visual, illustrated by hand in the style of traditional engravings. The use of the main color, which divides the background, gives the design a contemporary look, but still shows a reduced representation of the family crest.
Beside the visual appearance we designed labels for the packaged retail-portions aswell as for the 60 centimeter (approx. 23.6 inches) loaves weighing 30 kilograms (approx. 66 pounds).
