For over 60 years Scotch-Brite™ has strived to help consumers enjoy the feeling of clean. With Scotch-Brite™ Clean Scan users can test their clean, have it analyzed by our lab, and get detailed, easy-to-read feedback and expert cleaning recommendations. This kit’s purpose is to help users better understand if their cleaning routine is working to help them create a healthier home. This kit provides delight across all touchpoints from the moment it arrives at the user’s doorstep to when they see their final results on the digital interface. Our goal was to provide an innovative solution that would provide clear instructions and usability across packaging, instructional booklet, and online kit registration process. This science kit inspired design includes clever copywriting, engaging illustrations and informative context to guide users through the process. The design channels the fun and bright energy of Scotch-Brite™ to help users shine a light on their cleaning routine.

The packaging reflects a more premium offering than our standard packaging. Printing white ink on the exterior of a kraft box portrayed a premium look and highlighted the recyclable nature of the kit. This design also prevented the package from being scuffed in the shipping process and provided a polished look on the users’ doorstep. Usability and visual consistency are reflected across all touchpoints. To provide the clearest instructions and usability, our team integrated specific detailed icons for the process steps in unison with written instructions across the packaging, instructional booklet, and online kit registration process. Clever copy is integrated across all the touchpoints for usability and delight. The design was inspired by science kits for kids and how they integrate delightful phrases and iconography across all touchpoints. Our goal was to channel the fun and bright energy of Scotch-Brite™ from the moment the package arrives at their doorstep.

The kit has the ability to test for select microbial levels in areas of the home including Total Bacteria Count, Aspergillus, Listeria, Dermatophytic Fungi, CrAssphage, & Influenza A/B. Users receive easy-to-read data after their samples arrive to the lab. They are also provided with recommendations to help improve the way, and where, they clean.
