Description: Duke Ellington’s Four Symphonic Works by conductor Maurice Peress uses music to communicate Ellington’s wishes for a better world. This poster aims to not only visually represent this orchestral performance, but also convey the meaning and feelings of this performance.

The poster uses contrasting elements such as bold, large typographic units and small, delicate type to reflect the deep, dark, laborious and intense moments in each of these pieces, which are balanced and contrasted by light, airy, and swinging sounds. In addition, the irregular typography aims to represent the rhythm of this performance that is repeatedly broken for emphasis. This poster was created using Adobe Illustrator.
