The assignment is to create a poster displaying Cape Air’s long-standing commitment to servicing the Caribbean. The unprecedented natural disasters inflicted by Hurricanes María and Irma onto the islands made this airline indispensable to the Caribbean community. Going above and beyond, the largest workhorse fleet of Cessna 402Cs in the world enabled their pilots, crews and staff to continue with flights, both emergency for aid and relief and continued scheduled flights within the region. Cape Air’s dedication to connect the Caribbean community was honored during these natural disasters and continues today.
A traditional poster design style, evocative of the nostalgic age of passenger aircraft travel is created. Heroic and dynamic imagery are essential elements to convey this intense story of destruction, relief and rebuilding. Dense with information, all graphic elements are carefully selected. The image of the sun and hurricane motif create the sense of a dynamic climate. The dominant image of the indigenous, feral, Paso Fino horse exemplifies strength and survival throughout history. The drawing if the aircraft is specifically the model of the Cessna 402C flown, positioned with the Cape Air headquarters in Puerto Rico and represented by the flag, with the regional route map.
The poster design fits closely within their corporate standards for illustration their geometric illustration style and represents the successful continuation of their poster series specifically designed and illustrated. Poster are often requested and used to promote and celebrate Cape Air achievements and milestones across their wide-ranging regional routes and honored aircraft fleet. This poster is a reminder the ongoing effort to connect, aid and rebuild the much loved Caribbean community – the promise made by Cape Air.
