In the past, when a student was accepted to Cal U, they were inundated with forms to fill out, deposits to submit, and the hurdle of adjusting to life on a new campus away from home. Cal U tasked Elias/Savion with developing a publication that includes all this information and more in one easy-to-navigate location.
The agency conducted a focus group of Cal U seniors to learn information that was useful to them as freshman, as well as what they wish they would have known. We conducted a comprehensive review of all introductory materials and determined we would create a snapshot of early life at Cal U through a welcome packet mailed to all accepted freshmen and transfer students.
We designed and launched an entertaining and informational packet that includes digestible and comprehensive logistical information (a to-do checklist, online login information, housing and dining registration, and much more) as well as good-to-know information about life at Cal U, campus slang, popular hangout spots, etc. The packet takes the form of a folder, allowing students to store any additional information in one secure place. Administrators said the Welcome Packet has been extremely popular among students and has vastly improved the acceptance process.
