This assignment required we ponder the question "what is it to struggle?" whether it be an internal struggle or a national-even global-problem we face.

To create a poster that addressed such a broad topic I honed in on an internal struggle of being confident in my individuality with no hesitations or qualms about expressing who I am as a designer. The simplicity and vast space the figure finds himself in on the poster represents the daily grind of going to work on a task that may not stand out after the hours of effort afforded it. The desire to be heard and seen as a designer fuels me in my work. Competition within myself is just as crucial to success as comparison to the world around me.

The result is simple, just like the advice. However, on closer examination the realization that work is tedious and uniqueness is not easily attained becomes apparent. My hope is that the viewer connects to the small, shy figure in the poster and understands his plea for individual uniqueness to be their own. That the world strives to be a mass of individuals headed towards their own goals.
