This book exemplifies type manipulation of the movie script to portray the story of a 12-year-old boy setting off to an island full sick, banished dogs to find his bodyguard-dog. The cover of the book was silk screened with a Japanese bind.

I approached the design of this book by mimicking the style of the movie through type, color and culture. The cover of this book was silkscreened with a wooden texture to portray the iconic scene of the dogs riding a wooden crate with the boy to find his bodyguard-dog; Spots. The movie in itself was very symmetrical, so my approach to this was to make the style of the pages correlate with each other. Finally I did a Japanese bind to the book to mimic the city the movie was set in.

The style of the book gave a very Japanese feel to it, both physically and visually. The design of the book allowed the type to breath and therefore helped enhance the symetrical style of the movie.
