The assignment was to design a calendar for Coca-Cola to send out as a corporate gift for the new year. The challenge was to come up with a distinguished design so that people would want to keep it on their desk all year long as a design object.
We wanted the calendar to be three dimensional for it to be a "design object" but at the same time to be an icon just like Coca-Cola itself. We came up with this design idea when we realized the symmetrical shape of the Coke bottle and combined it with 365 days of the year which is almost 360 degrees. That's how we ended up with a 365 page, standing, cylindrical Coke bottle calendar. Of course it had to be a red bottle to be the perfect Coke icon, and we achieved that by designing a red frame on every page.
To be able to convey the idea and to convince (ourselves and) the client that it would be possible to produce it, we prepared a prototype in collaboration with our print house, for the presentation. The client loved it.
