In December of 2016, the New York Philharmonic performed pieces by Mozart and Beethoven to honor the transition from the previous to new Secretary-General, acknowledging how music crosses all cultural boundaries.
Approach
For the design, the concept is to express music through visuals via color and rhythm of shapes. The entire shape is reminiscent of a cello, but individual pieces also elude to percussion, brass, and woodwind instruments with reverberation of sound. One continuous "S" shape is the transition between the two Secretaries-General.
Results
During the concert, the posters were projected behind the musicians in the UN’s General Assembly Hall. The shapes nicely surrounded the gold circular UN emblem which is there, reinforcing the concept of transition within the United Nations.
