After the success of a short-run of brandy, Wisconsin’s premier winery decided to expand on their passion for distilling by starting to produce a line of spirits on site. Once the ground was broken on the new building, Wollersheim Winery and Distillery turned to Hiebing to help establish the new distillery’s visual identity, as well as the names and labels for their new craft spirits. Labels were created for their new gin, absinthe, fruit brandies and traditional brandy.
All of our work for Wollersheim focuses on highlighting their commitment to using locally-sourced, locally-grown ingredients and the long history of distilling on the Wollersheim property. The name and label of their Garden Gate Gin recall a treasured family heirloom that leads to the garden where the botanicals highlighted in the spirit first grew. The historic 1876 grape pressing house is the feature of their Press House Brandy, along with leaves from the grapes used in the distilling process. All labels include a subtle background that shows a handwritten ledger detailing the original brandy production on the property in the 1800s. The look reflects the spirits within – timeless with a modern twist.
Wollersheim Distillery successfully launched in August 2015 and quickly became yet another reason to visit the property. The spirits have been well received locally and nationally, with Press House Brandy being awarded 90 points by the Beverage Tasting Institute and selling out of its initial production run.
