The local Gardener's Market Association puts on a market every Saturday from early May to late October, rain or shine. My assignment was to design a poster that would represent the intent and scope of the market, the season's schedule, and possible purchasing programs.

I decided to use handwritten type fonts to display the considerable information required on a blackboard, of the type used by many of the 150 plus vendors to advertise their produce. The variety of locally grown produce, much of it organic, is always impressive. My aim was to represent the large amount and variety of colorful, high quality, fresh produce available to patrons of this very fine market.

The market was extremely well attended (a social scene!) every Saturday, with much positive feedback on the style, colors and attitude of the poster, including my suggestion for gardeners and attendees to plant Milkweed to help provide food and habitat for the dwindling numbers of Monarch Butterflies, which in-turn can be helpful allies in the organic garden.
