The Buck Institute for Research on Aging is an independent research facility located in Novato, California, with the mission of increasing the healthy years of life. The scientists work collaboratively to understand the connection between aging and chronic disease. The Buck relies on government funding as well as a donor program to support its work and the annual report is a key component in engaging with current and prospective donors.
The unique quality of the Buck as a collaborative environment was highlighted in the 2013 annual report with the theme of "making connections." Throughout the 64-page report, the graphics supported this idea with circles and lines connecting them. The cover featured a photo of the I. M. Pei designed building with die cut circle that featured the "core technologies" of the Buck.
The annual report was extremely well received by the Board of Trustees as well as other stakeholders. It is used throughout the year as a communications piece, given to prospective donors and business partners.
