The Lincoln Marathon is a long-standing tradition in the city of Lincoln, Nebraska and has become one of the fastest growing races in the country. As with every poster created to promote the Lincoln Marathon, the concept must tie into the city’s namesake, Abraham Lincoln.
This year’s version features rows of vintage Civil War canteens. The premise: To combine the visual language of the 1860s with the ubiquitous symbol of modern marathons—water bottles.
Posters became collector's items and were quickly sold out.
