“Vignettes" is an ongoing personal project consisting of people I have come across in my day to day life who I feel an immediate connection to and have an fascinating life stories. I want the viewer to not only feel this connection but to feel an understanding - an empathy with the subject and the caption provided.

The images are shot with minimal gear, typically with no lighting and no assistants, and minimal post work. This is a refreshing departure from my assignment work. I plan on continuing the project with not only more subjects but with adding copy and motion to compliment the stills.

Within one month of starting this project, I was invited to show three of the subjects in a fine art exhibition. It’s been exciting to see how these people and their lives are emerging from the images and it’s been some of the more effortless work I have produced. I feel very connected to these people, most of whom are really just acquaintances.
