Worldwide, women's rights are spoken of and fought for, yet a large portion of the female population still suffer some sort of abuse. Removing their state of vulnerability is a key struggle for women's empowerment. This poster was created to accompany an essay on the topic. It depicts this state of being 'vulnerable'.
The model was wrapped in metres of gauze to almost completely cover her form. Her beauty was inconsequential due to the feeling of helplessness prevalent. it took a long process to finally get the pose that depicted the right amount of angst without being theatrical. The various letters made of the same gauze that wrapped her were shot in a free flowing form separately. Each letter was formed and allowed to flow into the next for the shot, then finally combined with the model in post production. This process allowed a combination with very limited editing required.
The poster clearly depicts a sense of vulnerability, and the silent enemy that allows so many women worldwide to be taken advantage of. This struck a chord with women who saw it and they strongly connected with the essay's primary content. The best thing about the final result was that it did not need any explanation - people of both sexes immediately understood its portent.
