ACC Docket magazine feature article design and illustration
This international magazine is for in-house corporate counsel. The themed approach to each issue creates a problem where the articles can seem too similar at first. Our approach is to differentiate the articles from one another.
For this article, we had a great starting point in the headline: Tastes as Good as it Looks. Interestingly, we know from the every-issue reader profiles that many of these lawyers start their day with a way-too-early workout, so we went with a visual of fast food. But not real fast food; new labeling regulations warn consumers about the dangers of products, like cigarettes and fast food, and aim to minimize the attractiveness of the packaging and branding. So this burger and fries were hand crafted out of inedible materials and then photographed like a fast food product shot. Cardboard fries just don’t have the same effect on a brain that salty greasy ones do.
The visual provides a unique approach for the print magazine as well as for their digital edition and website. This article stands out from the other articles with related topics. Plus, we now have a cardboard burger and fries ready to go ‘cause you never know when you’re gonna need those.
