The assignment was to create a new major brand campaign for Moondance Film Festival. My goal was to attract more people to the festival, to bring a sense of personality, and make the new brand more easily applicable than the previous.
The sometimes abstract road to filmmaking success and the unique name of the festival led me to a fun graphic language that's stylish and playful without losing class. The abstractions use shapes that emulate the phases of the moon and little nodes to film such as the eyeball from the classic, A Clockwork Orange. I chose a limited and straightforward color palette that could easily distinguish itself from any variety of film stills to maintain desired applicability and flexibility. I applied the abstractions and branding to each piece of material in such a way that would make someone want to hold onto it, like an art piece. This strategy serves to get more people talking about the brand and sharing.
The project was generally well-received by my professor and our guest critic, as well as the class. Many people even expressed a desire to own the t-shirt, so shareability was already in the works!
