The client True Joy is comparatively new in the business of bottled fresh water. They are doing great in the business of beverages like coffee and juice. They need a team to assist to their new product of water with regard to product package. So they found us and entrust us to do an innovative design for them.
The inspiration is from an artwork of Sandro Botticelli, the Birth of Venus, as the Chinese saying goes, “ for human beings, mountain is father and water is mother”. Venus is the Roman goddess who embodies love, beauty, and fertility, which makes a perfect match with the theme of water in Chinese culture. Regarding the design, we have modified the painting by changing the different scales of the body of Venus so as to enabling the figure to be presented on the package properly and elegantly. As you can see on the attached profile, the painting will be printed on the bottle or in other better ways, where the back faces out from the package and the front will be shown through the transparent water inside the bottle, in which the body proportion will not distort as we have done an accurate calculation on the refraction influence. On the package, Venus is depicted as she is holding a baby in a two-dimensional way, where a brand logo can be displayed, which conveys the meaning that the water is as pure, clean and even holy as the baby of Venus. And around the bottle are the two beautiful arms of Venus，which feels like Venus embraces the bottle tenderly and gracefully in a tridimensional way. There are two points about this design, of which the team are very proud. For one thing, the theme or implied meaning of the design on water conveys the value of cherishing fresh water resources. For another, the redevelopment on the masterwork of Botticelli is creative as the the back of Venus is created and so is the curly blond hair from behind. The team has worked with a dozens of illustrators to perfect the back and the arms of Venus in case they are not as beautiful as they should be in people’s mind. Also, we kept trying to make it as graceful as possible so as to pay our tribute to the Goddess Venus. The team believe it is a successful creation as the whole graphic design on the body of the bottle is ingenious with the three-dimensional relation and the two-dimensional one being set up perfectly.
The client was shocked in an agreeable way when they saw the design. They love it and they are now conducting printing tests so the product will come into market soon.
