The assignment to create a piece to promote the new font Willison (that we also created) for The Wagner Institute of Science. These posters were created to be part of the exhibit in the museum for the launch of the new font.
Willison is a new digital font we created, based on labels by Charles Willison Johnson, one of the Wagner Institute's founding curators in the late 19th century. Our approach was to create a poster that would reveal the historical context of the font but to also create a modern slant in how the font is expressed.
The font is a unique typeface that adds to the Institutes brand and also helps to bridge the past and the present at the Wagner Institute. We also added an AR (augmented reality) component to these posters. When the App 'Artivive' is downloaded on phones https://artivive.com/ viewers can look through the App at the posters and see the 26 letters that have been created floating above the image in 3D.
A scavenger hunt was created as part of the launch of the font. The posters complimented 26 cards each containing one letter, and were placed inside cases around the museums. When viewers found a card they could look through the ARTIVIVE App and see the letter in 3D motion.
