Home Sweet Home is a charitable organization In St. Louis, Missouri that collects gently used furniture and other household goods and make them available for people who have been homeless and are transitioning to permanent housing. Clients of Home Sweet Home are able to walk through a warehouse of furniture and “shop” for their new homes, giving them a sense of pride as they do so. Local artists were asked to create and donate posters for a fundraiser to benefit the organization.
The concept was to incorporate an element of home with an element of where home is. An illustration of a chair was used to represent something of the home. The Gateway Arch (a national landmark located in St. Louis) was incorporated into the chair to symbolize where a client's new home would be located.
Home Sweet Home was very happy with the result. It received many bids (even the person who was in charge of running the event stopped to bid on the poster a number of times throughout the evening). In the end it raised a significant amount of money for a good cause.
