Fiskemannen is a range of ﬁsh and shellﬁsh products for everyday meals. These are high-quality, priced affordably and intend to make healthy and wholesome snacks easy to prepare and exciting to eat. We were commissioned to develop packaging for a new, innovative range of snack-bites from Fiskemannen. These were to be aimed at a younger demographic and attract new consumers, be distinctive within the category and promote fish as a perfect choice for a hectic everyday life.
The range have a fresh young feel and the ability to really excite with unusual and exotic flavour combinations. With this in mind, and sensitive to a competitive landscape of fusion-foods, our approach sought to create a name, packaging and range identity that was a bit ’out of the ordinary’ and eye-catching within a deep freezer section filled with a broad variety of products. We recognised a unique concept; one based around a game of pretending, as well as a strong colour palette were essential to achieving this goal and highlight that the products were fun, youthful and exciting.
Our design features a simple, high-quality proposition. This is given character, category distinction and appeal through a playful mix of product photography and simple illustrative ﬂourishes based around a game of pretending which gave rise to a playful and unexpected name; ’Fishy Nuggets’. These make a quick connection between product and fresh ﬁsh while eye-catching colour blocking blend an appealing crispy gold with the warmth of an orange or a fresh sea blue. Together, this approach delivered impact and a sense of fun in the competitive landscape of the deep freezer.
