Season 4 of Vikings is one in which every character is at war both internally and externally. History wanted a piece of art that hinted at this struggle while conveying the quality and intensity of the show, and the History brand.
For the teaser campaign we focused on finding a single iconic image that would balance the violence and drama of the show, with the relative quiet of the characters’ internal struggles. We wanted to tell a story without giving any particulars away, and raise the curiosity of existing and new viewers to the show.
Because Vikings is a well established brand, we were not tied to explaining the show concept, and had the flexibility to use the “V” alone, allowing for a striking visual image. The show premieres in January, and we are all eagerly awaiting its premiere.
