This logo originated from a Packaging Design project in which we were given a box and needed to brand and design it for a chosen product. For this project, I chose to package soap-infused and biodegradable sponges. I named this product "Sudzy Sponges" as part of The Clean Collective company, on a mission for a greener clean. I needed to reposition the sponge to make it something people want.
When designing this logo, I had my target market and the "want" factor in mind. I spent time researching sponge packaging and staring at store sponge aisles. From my research, I really wanted to bring a contemporary style to cleaning. I designed the logo with the goal of it looking simple, clean, and sleek, adhering to the brand promise of clean spaces. I used very flowing and modern typography to achieve this look. I also wanted to hint at the sponges function and took the round forms in the typeface as opportunity. I placed my brand gradient in a bubble shape, lining the inside of the "d" to hint at the soap-infused aspect of the sponges. This added a hint of color to my contemporary all-black logo.
Overall, I think I was able to reposition the sponge with this logo and with branding that followed the logo style. I think it adds a new look to cleaning supplies and would most definitely stand out amongst other competitor and recognizable sponge brands.
