In this project, you'll research a media technology relevant to graphic design and then present your research in two iterations of a poster. In the first iteration you'll use a denotative design strategy to present your content, in the second, a connotative design strategy. Through this exercise, you will dissect methodologies of research and of communication, and reflect on the location of 'authorship' in design.
The Webcam technology connotative poster conveys the idea of face-to-face communication through internet connection that webcam technology has made possible. Since webcam captures the image, translates it into binary numbers and sends the information to other computers through a network connection, the poster contains a similar idea that ‘webcam’ letters are transformed into binary numbers and transferred to the reversed ‘webcam’ letters. The 3-dimensional composition is suggestive of a digital 3D space that emphasizes digital technology that has made webcam face-to-face communication possible.
