More than a Vessel was initially created in a four-page publication within a book ‘home’ produced by the first-year students of Maryland Institute College of Art's Graphic Design MFA. Each entry, created to the theme of ‘home’, was woven into a book as well as turned into three posters. This poster is one of them.

More than a Vessel focused on cups I collect each time I travel. Cups, the only object I collect, are not just cups but a medium reminding me of my travels once I am back at home. When I travel, my cups are memories of home because they are in my home country, Korea. Each page of my piece puts together two illustrations of cups alongside their stories. In addition to stories, I put information about the cup to help the viewer imagine; the location that I bought the cup, the size, material, etc. The colors used in the backgrounds are reminiscent of the color of cups.

I took the graphics used in the publication into a poster so that the publication and the posters could be seen as a series.
