First, we started with thorough research of our target audience and conducted two Google surveys of students and parents respectively to gain insights into the educational challenges in the UK.
This allowed us to develop a perception of each parent's and child's needs and how they consume educational content in general.
Furthermore, we interviewed Aleena (12), a Welsh pupil and active Bitesize user for more valuable and authentic insights.
Next, we created different types of user personas for various children and parents.
The results of our research together with our user personas helped us to formulate crucial questions like: "How can we show Fychan (one of our user personas) that what he learns in school is already useful in real life?", and "How can we evolve the educational experience for today's generation to be more trendy, inspiring and up-to-date?"
This process led us to the idea of an app called Fresh Bites. Its an AI-powered and helps to connect every single update from the BBC media outlets, like BBC news, BBC sports, and so on into one platform to make them accessible for students and introduce them to day-to-day news.
