GTE Financial wanted us to create a series of quirky and impactful 15-second TV spots on a limited budget that would reflect their theme line of “going beyond money.” They wanted to make people aware of all the monies they donated to local charities last year and how you can be a philanthropist too just by banking with GTE.
This was one of three 15-second spots in a campaign in which we emphasized how, as a not for profit credit union, GTE Financial donated over $610,000 to local charities. In this spot, our main character acts like a high society philanthropist enjoying a game of golf at a country club. Ultimately, it is revealed that she’s actually just practicing on a tiny putting green, as her husband holds the flag for her, while trying to barbecue. The funny misdirect leads to some fiery humor and suggest that anyone can be a philanthropist with GTE since you help local charities just by purchasing things with your GTE credit card.
GTE Financial liked this spot, because it was kind of quirky and unique – just like them. The commercial helped to differentiate them from the competition and showed in a fun way how they go beyond money and really contribute to the local community.
