Design posters and branding for a music festival. Loop Festival is an immersive festival that celebrates the artistry of loop performers who create music by repeating recorded sounds with a loop pedal.
The designs are inspired by Ukiyo-e Japanese art and depict natural phenomena to convey the build, depth, and whimsy of the artist’s looped music. The logo is a loop pedal with dials that represent the earth’s tide configuration (earth, sun, and moon). The font chosen is Uchiyama which is reminiscent of mid-20th Century Japanese matchbook covers.
The festival brand depicts the complexity and depth of live looping and promotes less well-known artists. The concerts are in small venues, yet the sounds are big and the collateral communicates how live looping is naturally immersive and unpredictable.
