To kick off our project, we began by diving into all the things that people hate about dating apps. Catfishing, ghosting, dating app fatigue, awkward first encounters, people only looking for one thing or another, having to tell people you met on Tinder - the list goes on and on. We were particularly drawn to how awkward or embarrassing it can be to tell your friends and family you met your significant other on a dating app. It’s a lousy story. And as we all know from rom coms, the best romances start with the best stories: a meet cute. This is when we realized that we could frame Thursday as the only dating app able to give users’ a real meet cute. Because it’s the only app where your first interaction with someone can actually happen in person if you want it to, we felt this was the best way to creatively tell the story of Thursday’s unique offering. We then saw the opportunity to partner with Ms Mojo and put a spin on their popular Top 10 list videos for Thursday’s own “Top 10 Meet Cutes” video to showcase real stories from the app. We also thought it’d be perfect to hijack locations from famous rom com meet cute scenes with Thursday stickers.
