On a trip to New York I wanted to reconnect with the city’s sense of fashion and beauty — as well as with parts of the city’s distinctive architectural and cultural space. My aim was to bring beauty, fashion, architecture and mood together.

The circle, and its fractions, are a theme in my work. So I chose the Dream Downtown hotel specifically for its use of the circle in its architecture and interior design.
I wanted to capture the complex interplay of the ambient light, so I didn’t use flash. Also, I chose a wide-angle lens to capture the space and a circular vignette.
