This Halloween, the U.S. was disturbed by multiple scary clown sightings. In this commercial for Atomic Candy, we follow a creepy clown testing his Halloween costume, and his “Trick Or Treat” game, on an unsuspecting victim. We succeeded in capturing the zeitgeist with this well-timed piece like no other commercial during the Halloween season of 2016.
The commercial ran exclusively on Facebook and was micro-targeted at our target demographic of candy enthusiasts and Halloween enthusiasts living in North Texas. The main objective of the commercial was to lure more visitors to the store situated on the historic town square in Denton, Texas.
The commercial was shot and produced with an incredibly small budget (under 5K), using local Texas talent and locations.
The commercial resulted in a 5% spike in Halloween sales from the previous year. It garnered worldwide attention for the store when it was featured on Adweek and Huffington Post. It also won a Bronze Epica in the highly competitive and creative Confectionery & Snacks category, holding its own against big budget commercials from major international candy brands.
