Urban gardening is the new viral. Actually, gardening has long been the original viral. For the sake of a good argument, however, let's just say urban gardening is the next big thing, and rightly so. As man becomes ever distanced from nature in the world's growing urban jungles, it's time we helped nature reclaim the concrete. However, as ethical as it may seem, this new social movement is highly contentious. With more of the world's population living in cities than ever before, land speculation has never had it so good. Cultivating free land is now considered civil disobedience, as the powers that be protect the moneyed speculators and their urban investments. Unless we put the green back on the map - and not the greenback - the irony is the gray monotony will make the world's cities increasingly uninhabitable.
