Blake’s Hard Cider needed a label for a new, different kind of hard cider, called Cyser. A Cyser is essentially a Hard Cider Mead fermented with honey. The assignment was to create a new label, outside of their current branding, that sets it apart from not just their original labels but from every other hard cider on the shelf.
Since honey is the essential ingredient in this cider, we decided to really emphasize and celebrate its use in the design of the label. The label features an actual honeycomb pattern taken from a photo of a beehive. The yellow ink on the label is raised off of the black background, which adds depth and an interesting tactile quality to the label. We also dip the top of the bottle in beeswax to further visually emphasize the honey characteristics of the cider, as well as distinguish this from other ciders and meads.
The flavor is a big hit on tap, and we are hoping that it will be just as popular when it is available for distribution, during the summer of 2015.
