The aim was to produce an arresting recognisable image to convey concerns about climate change that could be used in multiple instances and offer solutions to climate change as well as uncomfortable facts.

The idea for the exclamation mark developed after reading an article written by energy correspondent Jillian Ambrose for the Guardian Newspaper (25 Oct 2019), which refers to research by the International Energy Agency (IEA). The article highlights the enormous potential of offshore windfarm energy to satisfy the worlds' supply of electricity, a fact that doesn’t seem to be common knowledge.

The exclamation mark seemed a perfect graphic form to demand attention, a characteristic that conveys the urgency of climate change. It was a logical step to convert the full stop into the planet itself and use the colours black and yellow to further strengthen it’s warning.

The poster has had very positive feedback and will become part of a series offering further facts and research.
