I chose to research data on the top five multifactorial diseases in the United
States. Multifactorial diseases are those that are genetically inherited
and influenced by environmental factors such as diet, exercise, pollutants,
and smoking. My family has been personally affected by some of these
diseases and I recently went to get my blood tested to see if I am at risk for
any genetically inherited diseases.
I hope to spread awareness to this issue and encourage action, especially
for young adults. If we all go get tested for our risk, we can improve our
immediate and long-term health. Regular check-ups and doctor visits are
crucial in giving ourselves the best chance at living a full, healthy life with
fewer complications and inherited diseases.
