This poster was created to celebrate one of Shakespeare's most tragic figures, Ophelia. Poor Ophelia meets her pitiful end in Shakespeare's masterpiece, Hamlet, after enduring awful treatment from the play's protagonist, young Hamlet.
Included in the poster is a part of the text from Shakespeare's play, Hamlet, that is hand-drawn. Without pointing too fine a point on it, the text and image references the trauma caused by Hamlet's actions suggesting a physical and emotional deflowering of Ophelia. While there are obvious digital elements in the poster, the handmade elements, including the hand drawn text of the quote and the physically sewn dashed line of the falling flower petals, are intended to reinforce the humanity and the romantic tragedy of Ophelia.
This piece was distributed nationally via various digital and print venues with positive peer-reviewed and general responses.
