Design a chair based on an art movement between 1847 to the present day modern and a personal story. The design of your Chair should reflect the Modernist principles of both form and function.

The approach to designing my chair, I focused on my struggle with anxiety that developed from a young age in an orphanage. Inspired by the short-lived art movement Vorticism, an industrialized and rebellious style. I explored the principle of contrast through materials, resulting in the understanding of who I am versus who anxiety makes me.

My chair is a representation of my constant underlying battle with anxiety. A fight that constricts the feeling of connection and comfort in others. Reaching back for my authentic self, I realize that all discomfort feels dangerous, but there is always a light found in the dark.
