A conceptual design for book covers of Shakespeare’s plays, based on memorable scenes in his play. This series contains Hamlet, Romeo & Juliet, The Tempest, and Macbeth.
The design of this book cover series follows the principle of simple but powerful and inspired by Saul Bass's paper-cut design style, to create this clean look design series with simplicity. I created illustrations and color palettes based on the themes of different books, and strictly followed the idea of using black and white plus one color for each individual design. In addition, the title of each book also uses a random customized paper-cut font to achieve the purpose of harmony with the illustrations and make the four different book covers have a good sense of series. In terms of font selection, in order to have a visual hierarchy, I chose the relatively ordinary Garamond, so that the font does not affect the main design, but the font can help the entire design.
