Near the end of the Boilo making process, the hand-written, century-old recipe says: "CAUTION, at this point in the recipe, the boilo might explode!" I loved the thought of old coal miners risking life and limb in the mines, and then coming into the light just to risk it all again for the sake of a drink. I wanted the design to feel old fashioned and little folksy.
