The assignment was to create a logo for Solid Steps, a nonprofit dedicated to providing the homeless with shoes and helping them take appropriate steps to end their homelessness. Their goal is to ensure everyone that comes to them can feel comfortable making solid steps forward, literally and metaphorically.
Approach
The black feet represent the homeless' plight without shoes, which results in feet that're stained black with dirt and grime and is placed in the logo as a means to recognize said plight. The negative space around the feet also form an S, which is the initial of what the organization's goal is: to deliver solid steps to the people in need.
Results
The logo reads as a clean, simple design that can be used on a variety of platforms that has a deeper meaning when one takes a closer look.
