Identity for a Cinematographer Representation Agency
A&M was approached by an ownership group looking to develop a concept for a new representation agency for Cinematographers. Launching with a roster of local talent, they’re looking to shake up the industry by providing a new and unique alternative to existing agency options. Through teamwork and supporting the independent creative endeavours of their roster as well as providing resources, opportunities and traditional services, this new agency is setting their creative and technically proficient cinematographers up for success with each project.
Art & Mechanical worked closely with the company’s ownership group to name and position the company before a comprehensive brand identity exercise was undertaken. The idea came from a key insight, gleaned from the founding partner’s love of baseball and particularly the New York Yankees. Their roster of talent would be composed of double threat cinematographers, playing to both technical and creative skills. The team's management are committed to improving and fostering skills that enable the creation of award winning, Mantel-worthy work. It was this vernacular from which sprang the name and the visual identity of Mantl Reps. They aim to hit it out of the park, every time—just like Mickey.
Alongside the initial strategy and naming work, A&M designed the web experience, promotional kits, business tools and some other snazzy stuff. Prior to launch, the brand positioning work was used to help sign new talent by communicating Mantl’s support for personal creative development and a model that allowed freedom for development by collaborating with resources in other markets like the US and Europe. Promotional kits also supported the recruitment endeavour, helping to close the deal with 4 new Cinematographers before launch. The full team has been busy ever since, collaborating with top directors and agencies around the country. Mantl Reps is quickly becoming a force in the Canadian creative landscape, and have a very bright future ahead.
