This assignment was for a Digital Design for Print class taught by Heather Hussey in Fall 2019 at Oklahoma Christian University. For this assignment I was tasked with redesigning an existing logo and designing it so that the logo effectively communicated what services the business provided and helped to distinguish the company from competitors in the same market.
The original logo attempted to use both an icon and text. The text, however, overwhelmed the icon and was overlaid on the icon affecting the legibility of the text. My approach in redesigning this logo was to create a form that equally represented both the icon and the text. Based upon the restaurant's name, I intentionally tried to steer away from using the typical element of a tea kettle and eventually settled on a tea cookie in an attempt to help the logo stand apart from competitors.
The unique shape of the tea cookie and decorative qualities of this logo distinguishes itself from others. The bold, darker green text catches the viewer’s attention and reads nicely against the softer yellow of the cookie shape. I am very pleased with how the overall design turned out and it was well received by my peers.
