This portrait displays the suicidal imaginations of my poetic alter ego named Greyface. The focus of the image is on the hand and not the face, and this intention was to visually represent the imagination of suicide. The face of Greyface has just enough focus to be seen but the highlight of the image is the surrealist handgun imagined by the poet Greyface.

What inspired this portrait shot was a poem I wrote about suicidal thoughts from my poetic alter ego Greyface. I shot the portrait of myself in my living room using a black V-flat board and a Canon eos r5 mirrorless camera. The camera has a black and white filter and I used a remote to take the shot with my other hand while I was posing. I used a light close to a 45 degree angle. The editing of the handgun barrel was done using photoshop.

I got great reception from my professor and peers after I created this piece. They believed the concept was great and the execution imaginative. This project earned the grade of an "A".
