The task was to design a conceptual poster for the 13th Annual United Way Corporate Battle of the Bands rock concert to raise awareness and money for a great cause: The United Way of Greater St. Louis.
Approach
The design team explored the superstitions surrounding the number thirteen. Channeling the aesthetics of old tarot cards and other sinister fortune telling paraphernalia, the poster design consists of intricate line drawings and iconography connecting everyday corporate office life to rock music—all encapsulated within the shape of the number thirteen.
Results
The event was another huge success. Drawing in a bigger crowd and selling more tickets, T-Shirts and concert swag year after year—the proceeds amounted to just under $40,000, which is a new record for the 13 years the United Way has held the show.
