To design a set of items that are related to each other but are vastly different in shape and size.
Scruples is a card game about tense situations and how each player would respond to them so I wanted to really show what the game is like through the packaging itself. Since the game currently doesn’t have a board, I reimagined the game to include a detachable cover that also functioned as a game board to let players keep track of their scores.
Drawing from the drama and discomfort of the game, I used bold and dramatic typefaces with tight curves and pinch points and highlighted these details through careful cropping. The cropped letterforms on the cover of the box illustrate how it can be difficult to make sense of things when you don’t see the whole picture, a concept that quickly become apparent to those who play the game.
