I set off to make landscape images of the great American Southwest. I descended into the canyon, and began shooting long exposures. As I changed my perspective, I shot straight up the canyon walls to the sky. The play of light, and shadow created a naturally occurring Trompe L'oeil. To me, it looks like the profile of an angel with her face illuminated by the sunburst, her hair, and wings swept back.
I was very pleased with the large print I created. It's a wonderful piece that intrigues people. Shapes seem to change, and reveal themselves within the landscape.
