This project was to create a packaging system for Waltman Eyecare, an online eye care service. The logo was already designed, so the main challenge in this project would be to create a design that worked seamlessly with the logo, while communicating the ideas of clarity and simplicity.
Approach
The existing logo was geometric, and utilized circles in its design. The tricky part was to make a package that was functional for holding and mailing all sizes of eye care products while still incorporating curves. Materials were also difficult to pin down, trying to find plastics that let through light and gave off a "gem" effect to communicate "clarity".
Results
The result was a design that allowed all the different sizes of boxes to feel unified by keeping the box minimal and white, but adding a recessed blue inner box so that it creates an undulating blue stripe. This stripe echoes the shape in the logo, and also communicates clarity by being not only see through, but refracting light in a gem-like fashion.
