The goal of this assignment was to create a poster series to represent a presentation about designers for motion pictures specifically for title sequences. The designers consisted of Oskar Fischinger, Saul Bass, and Kyle Cooper. Each poster had to represent each designer with the different characteristics they create with while still holding strong as a cohesive series.

The concept direction I decided to go with incorporates the way each of the designers go about creating their working. For example, Fischinger did most of his work with classical music and cut out circles, Bass used cut-out methods of rectangles, and Cooper used broken images and ink. The layering of the different shapes was explored to add a sense of depth for all of the images while going along with the concept of the series.

For the final series, I used a piano to represent the musicality of Fischinger's work, scissors and pencil to represent Bass's, and broken glass and paint for Coopers. A consistant grid was used to allow for a cohesive feel for the series as a whole. The color scheme for each of the posters also reflects the artists specifically bright, cheerful colors for Fischinger, bold, saturated colors for Bass, and dark, dull colors for Cooper.
