The open-ended project was to make a physical package design about any subject of our choosing. The package must include at least 5 items that make sense in context to the package subject.

I chose to do a Chance the Rapper hypothetical concert VIP package. Instead of defaulting to a regular printed design, I explored different ways that I could make the box stand out. I ended up using holographic vinyl to create the wave shapes that nod to the unique rhythm and style that Chance has in his music. At different angles and in different light, the holographic colors chance and create a dynamic box exterior. The branding of the hypothetical concert and the inside contents also are nodding to the vibrant presence that Chance has on stage, and lean heavily into the hiphop/rap music style reflected through color and typography. The inside contents include a T-shirt, two VIP passes, three buttons, and a concert poster. These items were chosen because of the relevance they would have to anyone buying a VIP concert ticket.

The reaction of the audience was very positive. The way that the design and execution reflected Chance the Rapper and his music style was seen as the most successful aspect.
