In conjunction with the AIGA Boston Fellow Award event honoring legendary type designer Matthew Carter, we were one of 13 local de-signers asked to graphically interpret a letter in Matthew’s name that would be printed as a poster to be auctioned off at the event.

The “H” letterform is made up of tools of the trade, which have become obsolete in our computer-centric world — a world that Matthew trans-formed his work to seamlessly. The three-dimensional object was not only visually intriguing but also provided an opportunity to do some housekeeping in the studio by “repurposing” old art supplies that hadn’t been used in years.
